Material

PPL has extensive experience in selecting the most suitable polyurethane material grade for any particular application and conditions.

Polyurethane

Both PPL-Duct and PPL's Clamping and spacer Systems are moulded in marine grade polyurethane elastomers that offer excellent impact and abrasion resistance, whilst having a long track record in a subsea environment. Many different grades are available to suit a whole range of different operating/environmental conditions and project requirements.

A standard grade material is offered that proided execellent all round protection and is suitable for the majority of projects. This material has an SG of 1.12 and is therefore neutrally buoyant in seawater.

Where required other grades are available to provide additional weight or even thermal insulation if required - see table below for further typical details.

Securing Systems

The metallic securing straps for use with PPL-Dust are supplied in either Titanium or Alloy 625 (depending on the O.D. of the PPL-Duct) both of which are renowned for their excellent corrosion resistance in seawater.

Metallic securing straps used on the Clamping and Spacer systems are available in Ally 625 and Carbon Steel depending on installation loads and design life. Alternatively, EVA coated Kevlar straps can be supplied along with a metallic tensioning assembly manufactured from a Super Duplex Stainless Steel such as Zeron 100.
